If you are looking for a great adventure, Time Stops for No Mouse is a great book to read. This book is about a small mouse with a big heart for adventure. Hermux Tantamoq is a hardworking watchmaker who has a pet ladybug. Hermux’s life is very ordinary until the adventurer Ms. Linka Perflinger stops in his store with a broken watch. After he fixes the watch, he can’t wait to give the watch back to her and to have another chance to chat with her. But, day after day she does not return, and then a mysterious looking rat comes in his shop and demands that he have the watch. Finally, Hermux bravely decides to follow the rat and he finds himself entangled in a web of very dangerous and thrilling adventure.
Many great characters can be found throughout the pages of this book, and with every page you read you will want to read 10 more! If you are pleased with this book, you can read two other Hermux Tantamoq adventures. I recommend this book for anyone who is looking for a good adventure. I like this book because it is very exciting and you never want to put it down, and the style of writing is very unique.

Abner and Me by Dan Gutman

Abner and Me belongs to a series of books by Dan Gutman that include Shoeless Joe and Me, Jackie and Me and many other books. One of my favorites is Abner and Me. This book is about a boy who travels through time with his mom by using a photo of Abner Doubleday (the person who might have invented baseball). This boy is traveling through time to find out if Abner Doubleday really did invent baseball. When the boy and his mom travel through time they find themselves in the middle of a Civil War battle. They must protect themselves and find Abner Doubleday!
I like this book because it has a lot of drama and it’s exciting. In this book are a lot of historic scenes of important events that happened in our country. Baseball fans will enjoy this book too. This book is wonderful and you will like it.

Star in the Storm by Joan Hiatt Harlow

Star in the Storm is about a twelve-year-old girl named Maggie and her dog, Sirius. The book is realistic fiction and takes place in 1912. A law has been made in the village where they live that all non-sheepherding dogs will be put to sleep. Sirius isn’t a sheepdog, so he’d have to be put down! Maggie won’t give Sirius up, so she hides him. About a week later, during a storm, a steamer with almost 100 passengers on board crashes into the rocks by the village and starts to sink. Maggie knows Sirius can rescue the people, but that would endanger his life because of the law. What will Maggie do?
Star in the Storm is a fast-paced adventure story and one of the best books I have ever read. My favorite character is Maggie. She’s brave and level-headed. It’s a great book, and on a scale of 1-10, it’s a 10!

The Bartimaeus Trilogy: The Amulet of Samarkand
by Jonathan Stroud

If you want a great book with a fantastic adventure involving wizards, witches and a comical genie, look no further than The Amulet of Samarkand. This page-turner is about an eleven-year-old magician’s apprentice named Nathaniel who is very advanced in his knowledge of magic. When his master’s fellow magician, Simon Lovelace, does not treat him as a worthy magician, but as a child, Nathaniel summons Bartimaeus, a five-thousand-year-old djinni (genie) to seek revenge. Nathaniel soon realizes that Bartimaeus is an easier djinni to summon than control. Even so, Nathaniel sends Bartimaeus out to steal Lovelace’s most prized possession and is caught up in a web of deceit, murder and rebellion.
The Amulet of Samarkand is one of the best books I have ever read. The book is split into many parts where it is told from the points of view of both Nathaniel and Bartimaeus. The story line is amazing and I guarantee once you read some of Batimaeus’s hilarious footnotes you won’t be able to put the book down!
P.S. Liked this book? Look for the sequel The Golem’s Eye. It’s even better than the first!

I like this book because it is interesting. Many exciting things happen. Sometimes it makes me feel as though I am in the story. I think it is a great book for kids who enjoy fiction and adventurous books. If you like this book, there are 5 others you might enjoy. I hope you like this book.

The Call of the Wild by Jack London
Reviewed by Carmen
The Call of the Wild is about a large dog named Buck. Buck lived in Santa Clara, California with Judge Miller. He was kidnapped for extra money, and forced to become a sled dog for gold-seekers in the north. There, Buck faces many hardships, such as competing for leadership, food, and survival. Buck then starts to listen to his instincts, which had helped his ancestors survive.
Overall, this is a good book because it is suspenseful. Like when Buck and Spitz (another dog) get in a life-or-death fight. The book is written in a way that makes you see and hear things from Buck’s point of view. You see the kind of life a sled dog led, and what they ate and drank, and how they communicate with other dogs. Basically it gives you good information and entertains you at the same time.

This book is about 5 bugs that go to the beach. There names are Lady, Stinky, Spy, Buzz and Stretch. Lady loses her hat. The Bug Bunch look for her hat, but they don’t find it. The Bug Bunch go back for lunch and Lady reaches into her backpack and finds her hat. I like this book because it is funny. Stinky is my favorite character because he is cute.

A Series of Unfortunate Events by Lemony Snickett

This book is about 3 kids whose parents died in a fire and their parents’ fortune is theirs. They go to live with an evil man, Count Olaf. Count Olaf wants to steal their fortune, so after people find out about him they try to put him in jail. He escapes and always somehow finds the kids.
I like the disguises Count Olaf uses to confuse the 3 kids. It has parts that would be scary for some kids. My favorite character is Claus, one of the three kids. I like Claus because he loves to read and so do I.
There are 13 books and you should start with Book 1 and go in order because sometimes they talk about things that happened in the previous books. I hope you like these stories as much as I do.
