Storytime sign-up will be held in the library from Tuesday, September 18 through Saturday, September 22. Registration for storytime is required. Story times begin on Wednesday, September 26th and Friday, September 28th.

People may register by coming into the library, or by telephone (508-754-0793). Be sure to check the calendar for up-to-date scheduling information.

Richards Memorial Library offers four storytimes to meet the needs of the public. Storytimes provide a literacy-enriching experience for young children and their familes. Each session features theme-based stories, songs, fingerplays, felt-board stories and crafts. Each storytime is designed for age appropriateness.

Preference is given to Paxton residents, but people from other towns are welcome to fill out a registration form. We strongly encourage families to use the many resources available to them at the library. The children's librarian is always pleased to recommend good books and to answer any questions about programming.

The individual storytime programs are:

Baby Laptime

Baby Laptime is held Wednesday mornings at 9:30 AM. This program is designed for babies 0-2 years of age and their caregivers. Baby Laptime is a language enrichment program that introduces babies and their families to the world of literature and language. Participants will experience and learn a series of techniques for introducing literature through song, rhyme, and lap games.

Toddler Time

Toddler Time is held Friday mornings at 9:30 AM. This program is designed for a 2 year old child and caregiver together. The 20 minute program features an array of songs, fingerplays and books to help foster a strong sense of language. Repetition is used to help commit the songs and fingerplays to memory so that parents may share them with their kids when they are at home.

3 Year Old Storytime

3-Year-Old storytime is held Wednesday mornings at 10:30 AM. We request that parents stay with their children to enrich the storytime experience. This 30 minute program is theme-based and features several stories, fingerplays and a craft.

4 & 5 Year Old Storytime

4&5-year-old Storytime is held Wedneday afternoons at 1:15 PM. This program is designed for the pre-kindergartner. Each hour-long session is theme-based, with an array of activities and stories to support it. Children have an opportunity to experience literature and learning independently. Parents are not required to remain with their children.
